DENIS SULLIVAN
Denis Sullivan has been providing operations improvement consulting services to hospitals, group practices, and integrated delivery systems since 1985. During that span, he has completed over one hundred projects resulting in the reduction of hundreds of millions of dollars in operating expenses for healthcare organizations nationwide.
Denis specializes in value maximization. His projects effectively reduce costs while maintaining or improving quality. His areas of specialty include establishing productivity targets at the hospital and departmental level, designing custom action plans to enable the achievement of those targets, working with hospital management and staff to implement those improvement plans, and developing metrics and tools that ensure the sustainability of those gains.
Denis’ experience in consulting covers acute care and psychiatric hospitals, for-profit and faith-based organizations, small community hospitals, large academic medical centers and physician practices. His consulting engagements have ranged from hospital-wide financial turnarounds to department-specific operations improvement efforts. It is his career objective to help hospitals provide the most cost-effective care to their patients and to be positioned to thrive in whatever reimbursement climate may be approaching.
Prior to starting his own firm in 1988, Denis worked with Performance Healthcare, Inc., a California-based consulting firm specializing in hospital turnarounds.
Denis holds a Masters of Healthcare Administration from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Villanova University. He has been trained in Lean Healthcare Management at the University of Michigan. He has served on the boards of local healthcare organizations and is active in several professional organizations through publications and presentations.
